Whether you’re looking for a couple’s getaway, a family retreat, a solo adventure, or a friend’s weekend away, there’s something for everyone at Lake Chelan.

It’s an idyllic location showcasing the best the natural world has to offer:

• The upcoming Chelan winery scene
• Numerous hiking and cycling routes
• Unlimited fishing possibilities
• And much more

What’s not to love!

And, if you’re a foodie, you’re in luck too! With this great location comes quality food and drink establishments scattered across town, easily accessible from lakeside village properties, like the Lookout, and often walking distance from wherever you choose to stay.

But don’t just end the night after a good meal. Keep the fun night alive with an appetizing after-dinner drink. An ideal scenario is a post-dinner tipple, or as the Italians put it, a digestivo.

After-dinner drinks are a great way to help settle a big meal, but it’s also just a nice way to unwind after an adventurous day in the sun. But keep in mind, there are a few basic rules of thumb when searching for the classic digestive, ideal for any type of palate. To elaborate, here are a few examples of classic after-dinner drinks.

A liqueur is a huge category by itself, and are sweetened liquors, in a variety of flavors.

• A yellow chartreuse is one of the best bets for post-dinner sipping.

• An amaro is a bittersweet Italian liqueur, which could contain spices, bark, and citrus peel, and aids digestion.

• Vermouth is aromatized wine, which is ‘fortified’. This makes it stronger and can be complex and rich in flavor.

• Sherry, particularly the Pedro Ximenez, makes for a great post-dinner companion, as does Cognac or Armagnac.

• Are you If feeling a little adventurous? Then one might opt for a great single malt Scotch or a recommended coffee liqueur.

Of course, there’s always the option of sipping on a local glass of Lake Chelan wine, a refreshing pint of craft beer, or your personal beverage of choice.

Now that you’ve had a crash course on options for your post-dinner drink, it’s time to discover the best locales in Lake Chelan that you may want to visit with your friends and family.

Chelan is a quaint city situated at the southeastern terminus of Lake Chelan, and places are easily accessible by car, bike, or in some cases, even by foot.

A Shot of Gratitude is among the most popular places in Chelan, especially for a Bloody Mary, making this a favorite late night and early morning spot. The owners take special initiative to create some wonderful drinks, so you’re in good hands. Though it closes relatively early, by 10 p.m., a casual vibe makes this an excellent option to stop by for a great drink before heading home for the night.

The Vogue is a happening bar and cafe, particularly between 8-10 p.m. on the weekend, when there’s always live music by local artists. The staff is helpful and friendly and the owner takes time out to attend to your needs, as well as pitching in with a recommendation or two. This is another place that shuts relatively early, also 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, so be prepared for a second option to go to right after if you want to keep the party going.

Andante is a place that you could very well visit for a fabulous Italian dinner, but it’s also well worth it to go for post-dinner drinks. And, we recommend springing for the delicious tiramisu or gelato to accompany your beverage. A tip on the gelato; try the peanut butter, which is quite excellent. This establishment is open until 10 p.m. all nights of the week from June through October.

La Brisa is a Mexican restaurant and among the local favorites in Chelan. While the food itself is worth a try, they provide more than adequate drinks. Portions are large and the jumbo cocktails are true to their name. La Brisa is good value for your money and time, and probably a place you’d like to return to during your trip, especially if you’re looking for a low-key watering hole after a long day in the sun. Don’t take too long at dinner if this is your next stop though. This place closes by 9 p.m. at the latest.

While you may not have thought of Chelan Lanes at your ideal after-dinner location, this place offers adult beverages and continued fun. Take a pass on the food and arrive here post-dinner to work off your meal and have an enjoyable evening out with family or friends. And if you head there on the weekend you’ll be in for a treat as they host cosmic bowling from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Expect an old-school bar with reasonably priced drinks, as well as a decent selection of wines from Chelan wineries as an added bonus. The bar, however, is closed on Sundays, but stays open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

Senor Frogs, locally admired as the “best dive bar in Chelan”, is one of the few places open when you’re out late in this city, but you won’t be disappointed. Make sure to leave the kids at home and then have an upbeat night as you dance to your favorite jukebox tunes and imbibe with well-priced drinks. No, this isn’t your go-to location for a calming atmosphere and casual conversation, but if you want to challenge your friend to a game of pool and sip on some cocktails with the locals, you’ll be glad you visited this dive.

Lake Chelan has something for everyone, no matter the occasion. You will always find the ideal place to kick back and enjoy your summer and the company you keep, whether you're staying for a few days or the whole season
